An expansive report from Counterpoint Research revealed that Apple accounted for a whopping 42% of all smartphone sales (estimated at $ 113 billion) in Q1 2021, though only 16.8% of all global shipments.

A year earlier, when the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread around the world, Apple shipped 13.6% of all smartphones and generated 34.4% of sales.

Interestingly, Samsung's share of shipped shipments increased from 19.9% a year ago to 21.7%, according to data shared by Counterpoint. That shows Samsung's mid-range and low-cost Galaxy A devices take a higher share of the shipments this year.
